Off week

We walked near Rochester, NY this evening. It was a nice evening. Pops found his first dollar bill while walking and the funny thing is, when we first started out tonight I told him that we would find one.

Today's finds.

Week off

It is our week off from dieting and yes, this IS part of the diet plan. So we worked yesterday. We finished up 2 back to back coast to coast runs. We drove over 7000 miles in one week. We are so tired and ready for a day off.
We got some needed repairs and some routine maintainence done on the truck. Then I cleaned the inside living compartment. Then we restocked groceries. Then we slept and slept. Today we went inside for breakfast and we got our laundry done.
I cooked some of our favorite meals to stock the refrigerator. Then this evening we went for a walk. We are in Fultonville, NY along the Mohawk River which made for a nice walk. We walked 3 miles.

Day 74

I woke up in Colorado. We wanted to get some walk time in this state and Nevada today because we didn't have any in either of those 2 states. So Pops found a nice Walmart in Rifle, Co and we walked the paved walking trail behind the store.
Later when I was done driving for the day, I parked at Walmart in Mesquite, NV to walk more.
For supper I cut up 3 small zucchini, some mushrooms and steamed those. Then I added a can of stewed diced tomatoes and a package of john Soules chicken strips. Once that was heated through, I divided it in half and sprinkled with grated parmasean cheese. It totaled 375 calories for a full plate.

Day 73

It was a really nice day today. I slept well and my work today was peaceful. It is the 3rd day of low calories and I forgot to take my vitamins the last 2 days. No wonder I was so tired yesterday.
Tonight's supper was very good and slightly higher in calories.

Good products

It These are great products.

Day 72

What a long day. We have a 4000 mile trip. Today is day 2 of that and it seemed so long, plus it is the second day of 600 calories. So it was a very long day.
We walked this evening in Pennsylvania. It was nice and cool.
The week after next we have several people wanting to join in on the diet plan with us. I am excited. It will be more support and encouragement for us.

Tonight's supper:
Tilapia with salsa
Sautéed squash and mushrooms
1/2 grapefruit
247 calories

Saw these while walking.

Day 70

Weigh day:
Pops was down 2 pounds. I was down 1/2 pound. We are both still very excited about this diet and our progress.
Today after church I went to a walkin clinic to have my ankle checked. Mostly because I wanted to be sure I wasn't hurting it more by walking on it. I was told that it is mostly caused by arthritis and aggravation of an old injury.
Dr Simon told me that maybe I should walk less distance. But I balked. It has taken me so long to work up to 3 miles. And I feel so proud of this accomplishment. I really don't want to go backward. So.... He told me I could continue the 3 miles if I walk at a slower pace and stop if pain gets too bad.
We walked this evening in South Carolina after dark. I got 3.5 miles.

Day 69

What a hot day today! I began walking at the South Carolina welcome center at noon. It was sunny and 90 degrees. So I only made it 1.25 miles. I figured I would walk later with Pops once it was a little cooler.
The welcome center was alongside Hartwell Lake.

Later at The Truckstop at Greenville we walked. It had just rained and cooled it down to 77 degrees, much more bearable.
Tonight is spaghetti and salad for supper. Yum, that sounds wonderful.

Day 67

What a day to be spending in Chattanooga. There were 4 marines killed and the shooter was also killed. I heard the shots as I was walking along the river this morning.
We sat all day with no loads, so I befriended a squirrel.
Lunch was a really good spinach and fruit salad coming in at only 222 calories.

Day 65

Good day of walking in Arkansas today; when we walk we look for coins. We found $.16 and a golf ball. Oh yeah, we also found a walmart money card, although it might be empty.

Day 66

We have been trying to drink a lotta watta. Lol

We sat today after our delivery. We are close to Atlanta and there are too many trucks here. It was a good rest area for walking.
We are moving now. We don't have a load just moving to Chattanooga.

Day 63

I was down a pound, Pops was up one. I think that he is building muscle from all his walking. Plus he isn't eating enough calories.
We bought a new scale today. It is some fancy thing that keeps track of your water weight, body fat, weight and calories.
We walked A LOT today. We walked over 2 miles early then walked all afternoon around the outlet stores in Barstow, CA.
We had supper at Panera Bread. We had salads and a roll.

Day 62

I woke up early this am in Las Vegas. It was 5:30 local time. Pops had driven all night and we were at our delivery.
We were carrying 7 pallets of floor tile for a restaurant called, Sweet Tomatoes. It had to be unloaded by us using our pallet jack and liftgate. Normally we don't load or unload so this was quite a morning workout.
After that we headed to California to wait for our Monday dispatch.
So this evening we walked in the 83 degree heat. It was 8:15 pm and we figured it wouldn't get much cooler. But there was no humidity and a good breeze. I walked around a little this afternoon while Pops napped so I got 2.6 miles for the day, Pops got 2.
Tomorrow we will still be here so I think we already have a walking plan.
We had sautéed summer squash, grilled chicken and a spinach salad for supper.
I think we will have a sugar free Popsicle now for a treat.
Tomorrow is weigh day.

Day 61

I walked 3.5 miles today. Over 2 of that was in Oklahoma when I woke up and the other mile and 2 tents was in New Mexico.
Pops is still walking, while I cook supper.
Today was a good day for finding coins. We found $.71.
Our supper today was a little high on calories, 515 total
1 cup green beans
4 oz. Ground beef
1/2 cup Italian stewed tomatoes
1/2 cup cooked mushrooms
1/4 cup parmasean cheese
1/2 grapefruit

It sure tasted good though

Day 59

Walked 1/2 my walking in Virginia this morning then came home, bathed and then enjoyed a pb&j sandwich for breakfast. I'm saving my pear for a later snack.

So we walked again this evening in North Carolina. It had just rained and cooled things down some. Here is a snapshot of my calories for the day.

Tuesday, July 7, 2015

Day 58

Supper tonight was less than 200 calories. It wasa 100 calorie poached salmon fillet, 2/3 cup cauliflower, 1/2 diced tomato, and a pickle. That totals about 190 calories.
We walked in Virginia this evening. It was a really nice temperature to walk. It was at a rest area off Rt 64, in the country. The hillside was filled with cows.
I get so frustrated that I can't walk as fast nor as far as Pops. My stride is so much shorter and I still get pain in my ankle when I try to go faster. He walks slower for me and then I get more frustrated because I am holding him back.
Tonight after I walked 2 milesI quit even though I want to walk 3 now. After I quit he walked another 2.5 miles.
Later after we ate our supper, I went back out by self and walked another mile. But I am feeling so down on myself right now. I think I could walk to Alaska and still not feel good about myself.
Used to be when I felt down and discouraged I would turn to food for comfort but since we are dieting I can't do that. Exercise is not picking up my mood, it is a contributing source of my discouragement. We just left home and it will be many weeks until we return, so I can't be excited about that. There are several big changes to think about happening within the next few months and they make me sick to my stomach with worry and fear. My faith is strong but I don't have the spiritual encouragement that I feel that I need. I guess I'm just one big pity party right now, but what's a party without cake? Right?
I hope I feel better tomorrow. I just need to get some sense of accomplishment.

Day 56

Today is the last day of the first complete rotation cycles of our diet. So we took the day off from dieting.
I lost a little this past week, Pops gained just a tad. I think we are building muscle since increasing our walking distance and speed.
So tomorrow we will begin again back at Day 1, Week 1.
Pops lost about 20 pounds. I lost 12. But the best part is, this diet is pretty easy.
We will still keep track of our walking miles.

Day 55

Fourth of July and we had a blast. We walked to the Prairie Dog Town in Lubbock, Texas. I took along some healthy snacks for the critters. They enjoyed the spinach leaves and the apples.

I walked over 4.5 miles, Pops got over 5.5.
We had a pancake with strawberries for breakfast.
Lunch was Tuna, cottage cheese and salad, which was wonderful in the hot Texas temps.
Supper was pot roasted beef with peas and carrots. And after our evening walk we had a sugar free fudgesicle.
Now it's time to settle in for the fireworks display.
